Rahul Gandhi - Indian Congress Youth Icon

Rahul Gandhi is an Indian youth icon with a huge following and a flamboyant personality. Through Rahul Gandhi rallies, which he has used to demonstrate his leadership qualities, the Indian community is being pushed to greater governance. Rahul Gandhi is amongst the most dominant political leaders as far as Indian politics is concerned, and this is strongly supported by Prime Minister's statement, where he says he can happily give his seat to Rahul Gandhi. With regards to an ordinary Indian, Rahul Gandhi is considered as a visionary leader despite the low profile, which he keeps.

Rahul was born on the 19th June, 1970 and had an opportunity to serve in various political offices at different capacities. His parents, Sonia and Rajiv Gandhi, had an indirect influence on him during their time as the President of the Congress and the Prime Minister of India respectively. Just as his grandmother in 1984, Rahul's father was assassinated in 1991 while serving as a Prime Minister. He is the Chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students Union of India and has equally served in All India Congress Committee as the General Secretary.

As an Indian political figure, he has taken numerous, drastic steps to meet his target, which include his educational background. He left India to study where he obtained degrees in International Relations and Philosophy at Rollins University and Cambridge. In 2004, Rahul won the Amethi's Member of Parliament seat to become a public figure. Because of his great leadership attributes, he was elected as the Congress party's General Secretary, posts which were being handled by his father prior to his demise.

In 2012, Rahul under Congress party, contested Assembly elections, where he lost to the Samajwadi Party. It was his belief that his popularity and fame would be of great help in the revival of the Congress party. However, this was not the case considering he managed to win only seven additional seats. It was following these event that activists within the Congress Party claimed that a great boundary exists between state elections and national polls. Rahul, however, had conceded defeat following the declaration of the Samajwadi Party as the winner. He has become a vocal force in ensuring people get the best from themselves.

Barely does he attack and see challenges and remains vocal of groups, such as the RSS, which are linked terrorism. In 2006, he made it known that the political party of Assam, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) was under the leadership of insurgents. In April 2013, these allegations were proved right by Tarun Gogoi, the Assam Chief Minister. As Indian political field shifts towards better governance and transparency, intellectuals such as Rahul, are looked upon for support and ideas. He champions for reforms, where he dedicates his energies to changing Indian economic and social fabric. Rahul aims at ensuring various stakeholders, as a component, play a key role in the realisation of Indian story.
